What is SSD? How does it work and what will I get?

Oftentimes, it can be confusing to learn about SSD and how it works or how to apply. Well, Social Security Disability actually refers to two disability programs. There is the SSI program and the SSDI program. Essentially, in order to get either one of those benefits, you have to fill out an application. You can do so through a variety of ways. You can go to the Social Security Administration, you can apply online, at least for SSDI. Or you can call the Social Security 800 number to apply for benefits.

After you apply, if you are awarded benefits, the Social Security Administration will offer a monthly cash benefit. It is usually paid via direct deposit into a bank account. It will also offer either Medicaid health insurance with SSI or Medicare health insurance with SSDI. That is how the programs work.

If you have any further questions, always feel free to call us. We understand that it can be a complicated process and we will always happy to give you more information. At Marasco & Nesselbush, we are here to stand up for your rights and help you with your case.
