Marasco & Nesselbush, a 67-person, Rhode Island law firm is seeking a Bilingual Legal Assistant to join our growing personal injury and medical negligence team. Our legal assistant team plays a key role in our firm as we strive to exceed our clients’ expectations by providing extraordinary legal care. An ideal candidate understands the personal injury legal process and is ready to join a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage personal injury and medical malpractice legal files
  • Perform new client intakes with an attorney
  • Meet with clients from the onset of their case and throughout the lifecycle of their matter
  • Deliver and maintain exceptional client service to all internal and external clients
  • Maintain all electronic and physical records
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Degree in legal studies or equivalent experience
  • Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Demonstrates a client-first approach
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications
  • Experience using Needles software is a plus
  • Knowledge of property damage claims and liens

Marasco & Nesselbush, a 67-person, Rhode Island law firm is seeking a Bilingual Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to join our growing personal injury and medical negligence team. Our Paralegal team plays a key role in our firm as we strive to exceed our clients’ expectations by providing extraordinary legal care. An ideal candidate understands the personal injury legal process and is ready to join a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities
Working under the direction of an attorney(s):
  • Manage personal injury and medical malpractice legal files
  • Working under the direction of an attorney(s)
  • Perform new client intakes with an attorney
  • Meet with clients from the onset of their case and throughout the lifecycle of their matter
  • Deliver and maintain exceptional client service to all internal and external clients
  • Prepare all legal documents associated with the onset of filing of complaints with the Court to the settlement of litigation case
  • Prepare and e-file/file motions with the Court and diary for objections
  • Prepare all discovery documents Plaintiff to Defendant and Defendant to Plaintiff
  • Preparation of responses to discovery and meet with clients, if necessary, to complete discovery documentation
  • Calendar appointments for managing partner and associate attorneys relating to the litigation cases
  • Scheduling of depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and preparation of packages associated to submit to arbitrators/mediators
  • Preparation of settlement statements, compromise/reduction letters for litigation cases that settle prior to trial and post-trial
  • Preparation of all legal documents associated at trial time
  • Translation during trial testimony preparation appointments with all Plaintiff parties involved, if applicable
  • Handling of visual exhibits at trial if required
  • Maintain Pleadings Index
  • Prepare draft letters associated with the development of litigation file including dictations translation from managing partner, or associate attorneys
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Requirements
  • Paralegal Certification/Degree
  • Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Demonstrates a client-first approach
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle large volumes of work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications
  • Experience using Needles software is a plus
  • Prior experience in a personal injury firm
