Rhode Island Attorney Valerie Diaz

Personal Injury Lawyers

Valerie Diaz, one of Marasco & Nesselbush’s newest attorneys, had the opportunity to see firsthand the care and attention paid to every firm’s client when her mother received the SSDI benefits she had originally been denied after enlisting the help of Marasco & Nesselbush’s legal team.

As a young girl, Diaz knew she was meant to serve the public and help others. A course in constitutional law during her undergraduate studies at Johnson & Wales University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in criminal justice in 2008, sparked an interest that led her on the path to a law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law. “I realized that helping members of my community navigate through the legal process was the best way to make a direct and lasting impact on their lives,” said Diaz.

At Marasco & Nesselbush, Diaz guides clients through the process of securing SSDI benefits. She represents claimants before the Social Security Administration – Office of Adjudication and Review, and the United States District Court – District of Rhode Island.

Another focal point of Diaz’s work is interpreting Social Security Regulations and Rulings to develop legal theories in support of disability claims. She also presents clients’ claims before Administrative Law Judges, conducting direct questioning of claimants and cross examination of medical and vocational experts.

Marasco & Nesselbush has become the ideal fit given Diaz’s desire to help people navigate the labyrinth of Social Security Disability law. “The dedication at Marasco & Nesselbush to ensuring that every client is treated with the utmost respect and dignity was a huge factor in me wanting to be a part of this firm,” said Diaz. “I experienced this first hand – my mother was always treated with the dignity and respect she deserved when she went the through the SSDI process.”

Diaz is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association and is admitted to the practice of law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in Rhode Island and the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans’ Claims. She is also an accredited attorney before the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Prior to joining Marasco & Nesselbush, Diaz served as an associate attorney at area law firms, gaining experience in litigation, personal injury law, Veteran’s rights and SSDI law.

Diaz is a resident of North Providence, RI and when not working on behalf of Marasco & Nesselbush clients, enjoys spending time with her family and close friends.
